I’ve always been hooked on the creativity and worlds that video games have immersed me in. Making games started as a hobby I took up in highschool with Valve’s SDK kit.
I started by jumping into their Hammer Editor, making Half-Life 2, and Counter-Strike maps and gamemodes. Then, I took that even further by getting as many free software programs as I could to start adding my own 3D models into the game. I worked in 3ds Max and Milkshape for the most part, piecing together models to throw in the levels I had designed. I then started to learn other engines, making mods for Fallout and Skyrim as well.
Going into college, I studied two of my other great passions I had in life. I got degrees in both History and Economics. I spent half a year living in Spain, where I specialized in Iberian Studies with my history degree. Both degrees offered unique outlooks on how the world works, and how it came to be the way it is. When I graduated I was faced with a dilemma. Nothing gave me quiet the excitement or joy that I had when I was designing levels in Fallout, Skyrim, or Counter-Strike. So I made a significant change in my life and decided to apply to the Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy to pursue my passion as a career. It was here I learned more about game design, and honed my skills as a level designer.
Since then, I’ve worked on FPS shooters, both singleplayer and multiplayer. I’ve worked on Antimatter Game’s upcoming title, 83. I recently shipped the AAA singleplayer story based shooter Immortals of Aveum, working with Ascendant Studios.
In the past few years, I’ve lived all over Europe and the United States. I spent time living in Portugal and Croatia, and in the US I’ve lived coast to coast, from Florida to Washington. This has given me a unique perspective on design and games in general.
My other hobbies include Dungeons and Dragons, where I’ve been able to build my own world as a Dungeon Master for the past two years. It has been an exciting way for me to bring my love for creative writing to a more social setting.. I’ve recently just started exploring more tabletop board games, including jumping into Warhammer 40,000!
